During the pre-show of the Golden Joystick Awards The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 Executive Producer John Mamais talked briefiy about the upcoming Cyberpunk game.
Mamais mentioned that he thinks that a lot of the developers at the studio have been working on The Witcher franchise for a long time, so they’re probably burned out on fantasy and medieval fantasy, and Cyberpunk 2077 gives them something interesting and completely different to work on. That’s why a lot of them are excited about it.
Pressed by the host to reveal something more about the new title, after jokingly (probably) mentioning that his throat would be cut if he said anything, he mentioned that the game is going to be “really, really, really fucking badass.”
Considering how great The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was (after all it won a our very own game of the year award in 2015) I have no trouble believing him.
Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed back at the beginning of 2013, and it’s still mostly shrouded by mystery, with no firm release window in sight. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design at the Golden Joystick Awards with its expansion Blood and Wine, while CD Projekt RED was named Best Studio.
